斯洛維尼亞與義大利交界的Goriška Brda盛產美酒，酒評早有讚美之詞。「葡萄酒隨身寶典」就將Marjan Simčič 酒莊列入最高等級四星，可惜國內一直無緣得見！產區Goriška Brda 翻成義大利文就是Collio Goriziano。Goriška Brda產區其實就是緊鄰義大利東北方Friuli Collio DOC的延伸產區，Goriška Brda 當地主要以釀產白酒為主。
One of Europe’s finest wine producers: Marjan Simčič. Straddling the border between Slovenia’s Brda and Collio in Italy’s Friuli region the Simčič estate produces wines that will test your preconceptions of wine from Slovenia. More importantly the quality will leave you astonished. From his great whites and reds that use local and international grape cuvees right the way through to his extraordinary sweet wines, the range is as interesting as it is revered. And, the wines really are revered worldwide. It is hard for the outsider to grasp but Marjan is a superstar in his native Slovenia and elsewhere in Europe. A bona fide wine celebrity at home, his wines are now fixtures in the greatest restaurants across the world. In the UK alone these wines are to be found at the Dorchester, Alain Ducasse and The Fat Duck. The international critics too, are now aligning with the sommeliers of these great restaurants, as they once did with the likes of Clos Rougeard. Along with the critical praise below one Italian publication has gone further and just announced Simčič’s 2016 Pinot Grigio Brda – steady, it’s not yet released – quite unbelievably, as its number one wine in the entire world (!) across all styles, ahead of absolutely all-comers, including worthy local contenders such as Sassicaia etc.
Marjan Simčič is the fifth generation family winemaker, employs traditional methods of his forebears, yet has taken advantage of improvements in winemaking techniques to produce stunning examples of what can be found in Brda. A huge talent, and more than a bit of a character, Marjan jokes that the border of Italy and Slovenia actually falls in the mid-point of the marital bed between him and his wife (!) but will quietly concede that it is actually their garden where the border splits the property between the 2 countries. However, make no mistake this is top notch wine country – one of Europe’s finest and most interesting regions for wine growing as those in the know will point out.

Golden yellow with copper tinges. The colour indicates the method of production, which in the right way highlights the intensity and complexity of the aroma (nice flower aromas developing in fruity and spicy notes), full body (the soft, mature and fruity initial taste is substituted by the note of apricots and melons), alcoholic richness with balanced acids, and variety characteristics (at the end,slightly bitter).
The maturation of a classical Pinot Grigio may develop fantastically up to ten years.
