西元1931年父親 Francis Usseglio 從義大利搬到法國隆教皇谷地開始定居,展開家族式的葡萄園種植。在西元1948年之間終於建立了 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils, 他共有兩個兒子 Pierre 和 Raymond,Raymond 後來自創 Domaine Raymond Usseglio, 而Pierre 則繼承了父親的酒莊 — Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils。 葡萄園都是非常優質的老藤葡萄,平均葡萄樹齡在75~87年之間的老藤, 但產量極低,所以釀出的葡萄酒非常集中、強烈。以前父親都將Domaine Pierre Usseglio大部分葡萄酒都賣給了批發商,非常地可惜,自從西元1999年Thierry 和Jean-Pierre Usseglio這對勤奮的兄弟全面接手酒莊後,不斷努力於品質的提昇, 除了導入新設備來更新酒窖之外,多處尋找優越頂尖的葡萄園,目前擁有約24公頃、分為17個區塊的頂尖葡萄園,釀酒方式堅持相當傳統,全部手工採收篩選去梗後,在培養過程中, 採用225公升木桶中陳年15~18個月,然後再放入舊的布根地小型橡木桶中陳年6個月,然後不經澄清和過濾直接就裝瓶,稱為(The Cuvee De Cinquantenaire)! 直到今天Jean-Pierre 和 Thierry Usseglio,不斷地將酒質精益求精,得到完美的高分也一點都不令人意外!! 屆時酒價要翻幾番恐怕又得讓人望酒興嘆了~~

Robert Parker: With no Mon Aieul or Reserve des Deux Freres in the vintage, all of the juice went into their 2011 Chateauneuf-du-Pape ( 葡萄成熟度關係影響下,2011年並沒有釀造”Mon Aieul” or “Reserve des Deux Freres” 這二款酒,而是將所有的葡萄全心全力都投入釀製這款C.N.D.P教皇新堡,可見這個年份結合出所有高階頂級葡萄園的精華,可說是歷年來最好的一年

Domaine Pierre Usseglio CNDP 2008Robert Parker Tasting Notes: With no Mon Aieul or Reserve des Deux Freres in the vintage, all of the juice went into their 2011 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (葡萄成熟度關係影響下,2011年沒有釀造”Mon Aieul” or “Reserve des Deux Freres” 這二款酒,而是將所有的葡萄全心全力都投入釀製這款C.N.D.P教皇新堡,可見這個年份結合出所有高階頂級葡萄園的精華,可說是歷年來最好的一年 . Comprised of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre and aged half in concrete and half in foudre (Mourvedre and Syrah in demi-muid), it’s a gorgeous wine in the vintage and has layers of sweet black raspberry fruit, licorice, spice-cake and garrigue all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, rich and textured, with no shortage of fruit, this beauty will drink nicely through 2021.

Wine Spectator Tasting Notes: A racy, dark style, with a focused beam of black currant and raspberry sauce notes, studded with singed anise, fruitcake and black tea accents. This is fruit-driven, but offers fine acidity for balance and freshness. Drink now through 2024. 3,400 cases made.

One of my favorite stops on my trips to the southern Rhone is at Domaine Pierre Usseglio where brothers Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usseglio have accomplished special things. A new state-of-the-art tasting room has been added, somewhat unusual in Chateauneuf du Pape where little has changed in the three decades I have been tasting there. However, the small, discrete Usseglio tasting room would never be compared with tasting rooms that exist in Bordeaux and California.
