Tasting Notes: The Bianco Secco by Quintarelli is a wine that impresses with its elegance and the breadth of its aromas ranging over several notes of ripe fruit, such as apricot and peach with yellow flesh. It’s a wine that can tell the story of Giuseppe Quintarelli, one of the Masters of Amarone; a man who is able to enhance in a beautiful way the territory of Valpolicella, a magical place nestled between Lake Garda, the Pianura Padana and the Dolomites. Here the culture of wine you feel and you see and you can find itself in really interesting products that have set the pace, as this dry white that is born from the union of Garganega, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Trebbiano and Saorin and that follows an absolutely natural philosophy: only natural manure as fertilizer and use of only copper and sulfur as a pesticide in the vineyard. Glass and steel in winemaking and aging, with the permanence of the wine on its lees to give him a really interesting structure. In the mouth it is very pleasant, with a nice freshness and a really long aromatic persistence.
Our annual November delivery of the Quintarelli’s delicious Ca del Merlo Bianco is cause for celebration as it is, in our minds, the absolutely perfect white to accompany the Big Bird. The Bianco Secco is a cleverly made blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Sauvignon Bianco, Chardonnay and Saorin grape varieties grown on steep hillsides pavkrf with dense limestone. The wine is deceptively rich and delightfully crisp with notes of jasmine blossom, white peach Golden Delicious apples. Beyond this lies an incredible honeyed minerality and a lingering acidity that just goes on and on. It’s characterful enough to stand up to just about anything making it a natural for all those flavors on your Thanksgiving table but there’s so much more going on……you’ll want to keep a few bottles to enjoy over the next five years or so, as well.
